HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A 26-year-old man faces a charge of online solicitation of a minor after police said he tried to solicit sex from teens through Facebook.
According to a police affidavit, Daniel William Riekstins, of Webster, Texas, is charge with online solicitation of a minor with bail set $10,000.
Police said an acquaintance told them that she suspected that Riekstins was involved with inappropriate relationships with children. Police advised her to create a fake Facebook profile posing as a teenage girl, the affidavit stated.
The acquaintance sent a friend request to Riekstins’ profile with no other messages or comments.
Riekstins then sent a message to the fake account stating that, “I like younger women.” The woman using the fake account asked him, “Would you have sex with a 15-year-old?” affidavit stated. He responded, “Yeah U can call me.”
Riekstins then became sexually explicit in his messages including soliciting sex, affidavit stated.
Police also issued a search warrant to Facebook.com for Riekstins account. They learned that he had attempted to contact numerous girls though Facebook.
