HOUSTON – Police arrested and charged a Baytown man with capital murder in connection with the death of a Crosby-area widow after he allegedly tried to use her debit card.
A passerby found Kimberly Grant’s body on April 26 along a rural road in Jefferson County outside of Beaumont. Family members reported 51-year-old Grant missing to Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies on April 21.
Grant had moved to Crosby seven years ago with her husband, and had lived alone since his death five years ago. Investigators said she died from a gunshot wound. Her missing car was found in the Houston area on April 24.
Last Thursday Baytown police arrested and charged Royce Earl Davis, 31, with credit/debit card abuse after they said he tried to use Grant’s debit card. Baytown police turned Davis over to Jefferson County authorities. Jefferson County investigators charged Davis with capital murder and Baytown police dismissed the credit card abuse charges.
Anyone with more information is asked to contact the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at 409-835-8734 or Beaumont’s Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS.
