HOUSTON – A man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after police said he led them on a short chase and then ran across the North Freeway to try and get away.
Just before 2:30 a.m. an officer with the Houston Police Department tried to pull over a driver northbound on the freeway near Tidwell for an alleged traffic violation.
Police said the man at first refused to pull over but later exited the freeway and stopped on the frontage road. It’s there he bailed from the car and ran across the freeway’s main lanes to try and get away.
Police said he was located about 10 minutes later and taken into custody.
Police weren’t sure why the man tried to flee. They said he had no warrants, and the car he was driving was not stolen.
