HOUSTON -- Police said a driver was arrested early Tuesday morning after he refused to pull over for officers on the South Loop.
Officers with the Houston Police Department said it was around 1 a.m. when they tried to stop a car traveling on Willowbend with no headlights. The driver sped up, traveling down S. Post Oak to the South Loop.
Eventually the suspect’s car blew a tire, and he came to stop at a gas station near S. Main. Police said the man jumped out and ran to a nearby apartment complex where he hid under a car. He was arrested a short time later.
The driver now faces a felony evading charge, police said.
Police said a passenger in the car stayed behind and did not try to run. He will not face any charges in the pursuit.
Officers said the driver had an inmate I.D. in his car, and he may have run from police in fear of going back to jail.
