HOUSTON – A pedestrian who was trying to cross the East Freeway was struck and killed by an 18 wheeler early Friday, according to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies.
According to deputies, a man was attempting to walk across the East Freeway at Freeport around 2 a.m. when he was hit by the 18-wheeler.
The big rig driver said he did not stop at first because he did not know what he ran over. After driving to his destination and noticing that his front light was busted, he drove back to the scene in his personal vehicle. That is when he learned he struck the pedestrian.
The DA refused charges because the driver returned. They considered it an accident.
