HOUSTON—Police with the Houston Arson Bureau arrested a man on June 13 who has been connection to fires at Dolce Vita restaurant and several other buildings across Houston.
Jacob Colby Garvin, 25, has been charged with criminal mischief and several counts of arson.
According to investigators, Garvin admitted to setting up to 15 fires in the Houston area during an interview with police.
Garvin has been accused of igniting a tire shop on the 3500 block of Old Spanish Trail on May 1, 2012. Police say there is surveillance video from the store that shows Garvin starting the fire.
He has also been charged in connection with a fire at a leasing office at 6115 LaSalette on May 3, 2012 and the fire at Dolce Vita restaurant at 500 Westheimer on May 5, 2012. The majority of the fires that Garvin has been accused of setting were started in dumpsters.
Investigators have not found any reported injuries as a result of the fires but are continuing to gather information.
Garvin was previously convicted for attempting to commit sexual assault of a child in 2007.
