HOUSTON – Houston police used K-9 units and a helicopter to track down a man accused of trying to steal from an ATM on the northside.

According to officers, a break-in was reported at a business on JFK Boulevard at N. Sam Houston Parkway around 3:30 a.m. Thursday.

A security guard at a mid-rise office building said the man smashed through a glass door and then busted up an ATM to try and steal cash from it. When that failed, he broke into an office to steal computer parts, the guard said.

When the suspect saw the guard, he dropped everything and ran into a wooded area near the building.

HPD arrived and later located the suspect.
