MAGNOLIA, Texas—Authorities in South Texas are looking for a heavily tattooed suspect who shot and killed a man in front of his family on Mother’s Day, according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Ramundo Zerate, Jr., 43, and his family were celebrating at Spring Creek Park Sunday when he got into a fight with a stranger.
Zerate took his family and left, but the suspect followed him to his home on Meadow Edge Drive and confronted him again.
During that confrontation, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot Zerate twice; once in the head and once in the abdomen.
Family members tried to rush Zerate to the hospital, but their vehicle broke down along the way. Zerate died before any help could arrive.
Police in the Rio Grande Valley issued an alert to be on the lookout for David F. Longoria, 42, who was identified as a suspect in the case.
Deputies said he was driving a green, four-door passenger car -- possibly a Chevy Cavalier -- with no license plate.
Anyone with information on the suspect or his whereabouts is urged to contact authorities.
