LA MARQUE — The future of the former Galveston County Health District offices and clinics on Oak Street is not as bleak as was thought a few weeks ago. City Manager Carol Buttler said she’s set to meet with county officials about finding some use for the buildings left vacant when the health district moved to its new complex in Texas City last year.

“We are hoping to create a partnership with the county, (governmental consultant) The Goodman Corp., Gulf Coast Center and city of La Marque,” Buttler said. “Everyone is preparing presentations for their respective governing bodies.”

She said there’s been some interest in the buildings because of their location but “nothing formal or final.”
