HOUSTON—One person was killed when an SUV slammed into the back of a sedan on the Katy Freeway early Tuesday, Houston police said.
The crash was reported in the freeway’s westbound mainlanes near the exit for Park Ten Boulevard around 9 a.m., according to Houston TranStar.
Police said a male driver in a Chevrolet Tahoe hit the rear of a Chevrolet Impala. A 59-year-old male passenger in the car died at the scene. Life Flight transported the 21-year-old driver of the Impala to the hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the Tahoe was not injured and police said he did not appear to be impaired.
All of the freeway’s westbound lanes were closed for about two hours following the crash.
No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation continues, police said.
Police have not identified those involved in the wreck.
