LEAGUE CITY — League City residents might find some relief from swarming mosquitoes now that the city has contracted with a pest control company.
While the Galveston County Mosquito Control District has done a good job of keeping the mosquito population in check, sometimes a little more is needed, League City officials said.
So, the city has contracted with Northwest Pest Patrol out of Houston to do vehicle spraying when the city requests the service.
For $1,875, the company can spray up to 300 miles of streets during three days, City Manager Mike Loftin recently told the city council.
“The city can call for extra spraying when it’s needed most,” he said.
The company will respond within 72 hours to a request from the city, said city spokeswoman Kristi Wyatt.
The city signed a two-year contract with the company Tuesday, she said.
