LEAGUE CITY, Texas –A 22-year-old father has been arrested after his 3-month-old daughter suffered a choking injury, according to League City police.
Cole Gerard Zube, 22, was charged with felony injury to a child.
League City EMS responded to a home on April 5 after receiving a 911 call about an infant choking.
The baby was transported to Clear Lake Regional Medical Center where it was determined that she was suffering from life threatening injuries. She was then rushed to Texas Children’s Hospital. Her current medical condition has not been released.
According to detectives, the statement given by Zube was inconsistent to the injuries the baby girl suffered.
After further investigation, Zube was taken into custody on April 14 and charged. His bond was set at $80,000.
First degree injury to a child is committed when a person intentionally and knowingly causes a child serious bodily injury or serious mental deficiency, impairment or injury.
If convicted, Zube faces a possible sentence of five to 99 years in prison, with a maximum fine of $10,000.
