HOUSTON -- Last-minute shoppers crowded the aisles of Walgreens and Walmart Tuesday night, snatching up items in what for many has become an annual tradition.
“It’s Hectic in there,” said Felicia Doyle. “Everything’s a mess. It’s definitely not something we should do.”
But Doyle admitted she typically does a lot of her shopping on Christmas Eve.
“It’s tradition and I’m a procrastinator,' Doyle said.
Many shoppers were looking for small ticket items like wrapping paper and Christmas cards. A manager for Walgreens said the large crowds are present every year.
“That’s typical,” said Rick Patel. “It’s one of our busiest days of the year.”
Pattie Mueller was looking for stocking stuffers.
“Tradition is everyone gets a toothbrush and a magazine,” Mueller said.
But Ava Wilson and her big sister Mary Clair struggled to find the perfect gift for a friend named Bill. Eventually they settled on a singing reindeer even though that had trouble trying to shut it off.
