HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- An Amber Alert issued for two young Houston boys was canceled overnight after they were safely located, deputies said.
Jayce and Jeremiah Teel were found in the Greenspoint area around 2 a.m. Thursday, deputies said.
A tip led authorities to an apartment where the boys were being kept, which was apparently the apartment of the suspect’s current girlfriend.
It was Wednesday afternoon when the boys’ mother told police the children were kidnapped by their father at gunpoint. They were with their mother when they were abducted from a complex on West Gulf Bank near Antoine.
Mother Jasmine Porter said her ex-boyfriend and father of her two kids, 26-year-old Jeremy Teel, showed up unannounced.
Porter claims Teel showed up with his current girlfriend, Jasmine Scott, and demanded to have his sons. An argument turned violent, and Teel allegedly pulled out a sawed-off shotgun.
“He pointed it first, and then shot it and then leaned and shot it and picked up the shells and drove off,” said mother Jasmine Porter.
Jasmine said she was getting ready to bring one of her sons to the doctor’s office when it happened.
Deputies later found Teel hiding in the bathroom of an area gas station. According to investigators, Teel initially refused to reveal the kids’ location.
Jeremy Teel has been charged with aggravated assault. Court records show he has had run-ins with the law in the past, and Porter claims he is currently on parole.
