HOUSTON -- There have been lines at the car wash for days now all because of a mysterious red dust coating cars all over Houston.

Most people washed their cars and forgot about it, but others have come up with extreme theories.

You will find plenty of theories about what that red dust is really all about on various social media websites.

“I think the alien one is pretty ridiculous,” said Mr. Gonzalez.

Theories include a pole shift, a debris trail from a mysterious planet and even dust-spreading UFOs.

KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez shed some light on the dust.

“This is probably not an alien born phenomenon, but in fact something closer to Earth,” Gomez said. “Most likely source is dust that is hurled up in the atmosphere down in Mexico.”
