HOUSTON—The jury began deliberating Friday in the punishment for Ana Trujillo, the woman who was found guilty of murder in the stabbing death of a University of Houston professor.

Ana Trujillo showed no emotion when the verdict was read Tuesday. She mouthed the words “I love you” to her family as she was escorted out of the courtroom.

Prosecutors said Trujillo stabbed 59-year-old Alf Stefan Andersson at least 25 times in the face with the 5 ½ inch stiletto heel of her shoe during an argument in June at his Houston condominium. Testimony showed the victim bought the $1500 stilettos for Trujillo.

In final arguments of the murder trial, they called it a “vicious murder” committed in a fit of rage, but Trujillo’s attorneys said she was defending herself from an attack by Andersson.

The jury deliberated only two hours before returning the guilty verdict.

Testimony in the sentencing phase began Wednesday and wrapped up Friday morning.

Trujillo, 45, faces up to life in prison.
