HOUSTON—A judge placed restrictions on a former Pasadena Independent School District teacher who is accused engaging in improper relationships with four students.
LaShawn Simmons, 41, appeared in court Friday. She was a math teacher at Beverly Hills Intermediate School for 14 years and resigned from the school district in lieu of termination.
The judge told Simmons she can’t have contact with a child under 17, she can’t get on a computer and she can’t get within a mile of a Pasadena school.
Simmons faces five charges, including one count of sexual assault of a child under 17, a second-degree felony. Simmons is also charged with two counts of engaging in an improper relationship between an educator and a student, also a second-degree felony.
The two other charges filed against Simmons—online solicitation of a minor and possession of child pornography—are both third-degree felonies.
Police said Simmons sent naked pictures of herself to students who go to Dobie High School. They also said she had child pornography.
Simmons is scheduled to be back in court in April.
