HOUSTON – A jewelry store employee was charged with aggregate theft after he admitted stealing from his employer and selling the items to a competitor, according to court documents.
Mohaammad Ashraf is accused of stealing 23 rings from G.M. Gold and Diamonds located in the 7500 block of Bellaire Boulevard. He allegedly took the rings over a period of two years.
Police said Ashraf then sold the items to a jewelry kiosk in Sharpstown Mall, which is attached to the building where G.M. Gold and Diamonds is located.
After police got involved, Ashraf confessed that he took the rings and sold them in exchange for four payments of $4,000, according to court documents. The court records list the retail value of the rings at about $173,200.
Ashraf was released from jail on $10,000 bond.
