HOUSTON – Four children were sent to the hospital following a collision in a southwest Houston intersection early Monday.

Air 11 flew over the scene at Bellaire Boulevard and Rookin Street around 8 a.m. One of the two vehicles involved in the collision also slammed into a pole on a nearby sidewalk.

Three children were sent to the hospital with minor injuries, police said. A fourth child was in more serious condition and possibly suffered a broken neck, according to officers with the Houston Police Department.

Despite earlier police reports, no pedestrians were hit as a result of the accident, and all four kids were passengers in the vehicles involved in the wreck.

Two ambulances were called to the scene along with firefighters and police.

Police investigating the crash said both drivers claimed to have a green light when they hit each other.
