HOUSTON – Police continue to search for a suspect in the death of a woman who was found underneath a bridge in Pasadena on New Year’s Day.

Authorities said a passerby flagged down police after finding Edlyn Villegas, 36, under a bridge at Vince Bayou near the intersection of South Shaver and Queens around 12 p.m. on January 1.

Police said she was found nude with heavy bruising on her face. Her clothing and cell phone were found nearby.

The exact cause of her death was unknown, but police consider the case a homicide.

Police said Villegas had last been seen at the Show Palace, a strip club located in the 1400 block of Spencer, around 2 a.m. Police said she left the club after getting into an argument with an unidentified woman.

“(I’ll miss) her smile. Her eyes. Her touch. Everything,” her husband, Camilo Zermeno, said the day after Villegas was found. “She taught me how to be a good father. She taught me how to cook for them. How to wash their clothes. How to do their hair now when they go to school.”

He said he and his wife were raising seven kids, ranging in age from 2 to 17. He said they’d been married for 11 years and she was working to become a real estate agent.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of suspect or suspects in this case is encouraged to call the Pasadena Police Department at 713-477-1221 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477).

All callers will remain anonymous. A cash reward of up to $5,000 is available for information leading to an arrest.
