HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Hundreds of history buffs re-enacted the battle of San Jacinto Saturday.
It took place at the San Jacinto Monument near La Porte. The re-enactment dramatizes the battle of Gen. Sam Houston and his Texas soldiers and their victory over the Mexican army in 1836.
No detail was overlooked.
There were horses, cannons and pyrotechnics and the actors even dressed as the soldiers did 178 years ago. Organizers said this re-enactment of the Battle of San Jacinto is the largest in the state.
