HOUSTON -- Houston, if you’re interested in searching for free money, you might not have to wait much longer.

It looks like the hidden cash craze sweeping the country is coming to town.

The mystery twitter user @HoustonHiddenGi tweeted on Tuesday: “Houston get ready for it. Our very own cash and other gifts scavenger hunt of random kindness. First drop coming up Friday!”

More and more hints have been surfacing since then.

“I think it’s awesome, and I hope everybody becomes a copycat. We need a little bit of good stuff in this world,” said Rita Bayron.

While some Houstonians remain skeptical about getting free money, the Twitter user assures followers it is not a scam.

The generous trend started in San Francisco and has spread to other cities like Los Angeles, Chicago and Dallas.

Clues are posted to Twitter, and people then have the opportunity to go searching for envelopes of cash.

“I’ll take some free money wherever it is,” said Jordan Wright. “It sounds too good to be true.”

There’s no word on if the person planning Houston’s hunt is the same person behind the others.

However, all of the hunts have encouraged people to pay it forward and help others in need.

The user @HoustonHiddenGi says the planning phase in Houston is still underway. He or she tweeted that people will be asked to help out beginning on Wednesday, and the cash hunt will begin on Friday.

According to @HoustonHiddenGi, there will be a day each week where Houstonians can contribute a random act of kindness.

Some of those random acts are apparently set to happen at a local cancer facility in honor of cancer survivor week.
