BACLIFF, Texas — A Houston woman accused of managing a bordello was convicted after a three-day trial, a prosecutor said.
A jury deliberated Thursday about 90 minutes before finding Tuyet Thi Tran, 41, guilty of aggravated promotion of prostitution, Prosecutor Jennifer Ott said.
Deputies wore audio-video recording devices when entering Santa Fe Spa, 1007 Grand Ave., in Bacliff. They accused two women of propositioning the undercover men, according to court testimony.
Sgt. Mike Barry, of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office, recorded a video that showed Tran behind a counter at the business, but the video didn’t capture Tran accepting money.
Tran, a citizen of Vietnam, claimed she was not married but supported seven children younger than 18, court documents reveal.
Tran’s punishment hearing in Judge Susan Criss’ 212th District Court in Galveston is set for Dec. 29, Ott said.
