HOUSTON -– A 26-year-old Houston man was charged Sunday in the shooting death of his brother-in-law on the far south side of town, police said.
Melton Wilson will be in court Monday morning on accusations that he pulled out a gun and shot Joe Lee Thompson, Jr. multiple times during an argument.
The Houston Police Department said it was before 8 p.m. Saturday when officers were called to a home on Selinsky Road at Greylog Drive. They found the 32-year-old victim dead inside. Investigators said the shooting went down during a family gathering.
Witnesses told police the suspect asked Thompson to leave, but the argument became physical. The suspect went to a bedroom and returned with a loaded weapon, shooting Thompson.
Neighbors said this wasn’t the first time they’ve seen fighting at the home.
