HOUSTON – A cold morning turned into a beautiful afternoon Monday as temperatures climbed into the 70s, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson.

“As we look at our northern counties, we'll be in the overall lower-70s this afternoon,” said Johnson. “We’re going to see these temperatures warm up slowly throughout the week.”

The forecast high Monday and Tuesday is in the low-70s. On Wednesday, the forecast high jumps about five degrees.

By the end of the week we’ll be back in the lower-80s.

There’s no significant chance of rain in the seven-day forecast.

We're continuing to track Hurricane Sandy as it approaches the New Jersey coast. It will make landfall late in the day Monday overnight into Tuesday. By noon some street flooding was already reported along the East Coast.
