HOUSTON -- Some northern parts of our viewing area were under a freeze warning early Tuesday, but this afternoon will warm up nicely, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Chita Johnson.

“We have a big dip in the jet stream to the east of us, so that’s dropping temperatures to our north,” said Johnson. “This morning the National Weather Service had a freeze warning in effect for Montgomery County, Walker County, and that extends well north of us.”

Closer to the city, we’ll bottom out near 39 degrees before the sun comes up. After that, we’ll spend most of the day Tuesday in the upper-50’s as the temperatures top out in the mid-60s under sunny skies.

Tonight, we'll dip back into the upper-30s and lower-40s in the overnight hours.

Wednesday and Thursday are similar -- cool temperatures early in the morning and sunny skies in the afternoon.

On Friday the clouds return, bringing warmer temperatures in the 70s and a chance for weekend rain.
