HOUSTON -- A powerful thunderstorm swept through the Greater Houston Area Friday afternoon bringing hail, damaging winds and heavy rain.
Golf-sized hail damaged vehicles in La Marque and smaller hail pounded other areas, including Katy, Bear Creek, Texas City and parts of Houston.

Some areas saw winds over 50 mph, according to KHOU 11 Chief Meteorologist Gene Norman.
Tyler Raugh said the wind was so strong in downtown Houston, it blew out windows in the lobby of the Chase Tower.
The wind also downed trees throughout the area.
Lightning struck a power pole near 290 and Jones Road, causing an outage in that area.
CenterPoint reported nearly 76,000 customers without power just before 4 p.m. By 9 p.m., the number was down to 9,000.
Several communities got up to an inch of rain before the storm was over.
The storms dropped temperatures dramatically. We'll see lows in the 50s tonight and highs will only reach the 70s Saturday and Sunday.
The gorgeous weather will continue early week.
