HOUSTON—Thursday’s forecast will be somewhat a repeat of yesterday’s – cloudy and warm with a chance for showers, according to KHOU 11 News Meteorologist David Paul. The prediction everyone was waiting for, however, was from Punxsutawney Phil. Our favorite little groundhog did see his shadow, so that means six more weeks of winter for us!
Groundhog Day kicked off with lows in the upper-60s and highs are expected to top off right below 80 degrees—not your typical February day! There is also a 30- to 40-percent chance for afternoon showers.
The extended forecast shows a more significant chance – 60-percent – for rain on Friday and the soggy weather is expected to continue through the weekend. After a front blows through Friday, temperatures will drop again.
Saturday is expected to see lows in the lower-60s and highs in the lower-70s, and Sunday is expected to see lows in the upper-40s and highs in the upper-50s.
