HOUSTON – Most of the Houston area will warm up into the mid- to upper-60s following a chilly start to the day Thursday.

Most of Houston bottomed out around 50 degrees early this morning. We'll be looking at winds around 15 to 20 mph this afternoon.

"If you're going out running today, it's the perfect afternoon for it," said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Brooks Garner. "Tomorrow morning will be the coldest temps yet, but we don't need to worry about a freeze or anything."

Friday morning we will dip into the mid-40s.

The cool overnight temperatures continue for the next several days, and our daytime temps won’t get back into the upper-70s until Sunday when the clouds return.
