HOUSTON -- Thursday started off chilly, but change is on the way in time for the weekend, according to KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Mario Gomez.

We’ll top out in the mid-50s today under partly cloudy skies.

"It's been very cold across the deep south, but now we are switching to a warming trend that will bring rain and even some sea fog across the Houston area starting Friday," said Gomez. "It won't last long, however, as another front is expected to move back across Southeast Texas as early as Sunday afternoon."

Early Friday morning we’ll be in the low-50s, but in the afternoon we’ll get back into the 70s with increasing clouds and a slight chance for rain.

Saturday afternoon will also be warm and cloudy with a rain chance.

By Sunday the temperatures start to drop again as the rain chance jumps to 50 percent.

Early next week daytime temps will be in the 50s and overnight lows will be in the 30s and 40s.

The chance for rain will finally go away by the middle of next week.
