HOUSTON -- We have a hot weekend ahead of us with a slight chance for scattered downpours, according to KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Brooks Garner.

We have a 30-percent chance for rain Friday and a 20-percent chance on Saturday and Sunday.

It'll be sunny with a few clouds in the sky -- pushing our afternoon temps into the mid-90s.

It’s next Wednesday we could be looking at a big change in the forecast. We’re looking at a temperature drop in the northern U.S. in mid-July, if you can believe it. It’s not set in stone, but next week Houston’s daytime temperatures could drop into the upper-80s and low-90s.

If the polar vortex holds together, our daytime high on Thursday will only be 89 degrees – but that’s if it makes it far enough south.

There’s a returning chance for rain mid-next week along with the cooler temps.
