HOUSTON – Our rain chances increase as we get closer to Tuesday, according to KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Brooks Garner.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect for the Hill Country as 3" to 5" of rain are expected through Thursday. Closer to Houston we could get between 1" and 2" of rain.

There’s a 40-percent chance for rain today – mainly in the evening.

"A line of storms will make its way to the Houston area after midnight," said Garner.

Tuesday there’s a 70-percent chance for rain and storms with a forecast high of 78 degrees.

Wednesday will be nicer with a high temp of only 74 degrees and a 40-percent chance for rain.

Thursday we'll top out in the mid-70s under sunny skies.

The heat returns later this week, but the sunny skies stick around through the weekend.
