HOUSTON -- Monday kicks off a very hot work week, causing a heat advisory for many across the Houston area, said KHOU 11 News Meteorologist Brooks Garner.

The heat advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. through 9 p.m. Monday for portions of Brazoria, Chambers, Galveston, Harris, Jackson, Liberty and Matagorda counties.

We will top out around 98 degrees Monday afternoon with a 10-percent chance for stray showers. The humidity will push the heat index to the range of 105-110.

Tuesday’s weather is the same – hot with a slight chance for showers.

Later this week we will see triple digit temperatures and fewer clouds in the sky. There is a little relief on the way, however. This weekend a chance for rain returns and the temperatures drop about five degrees.
