HOUSTON – Doctors are “increasingly confident” former President George H.W. Bush will be released from the hospital in time to celebrate Christmas at home, a spokesman said Tuesday.
George Kovacik with Methodist Hospital said the president has been in physical therapy as he recovers from a persistent cough.
“President Bush’s physical therapy continues to progress, and his doctors are increasingly confident he will be released in time to celebrate Christmas at home with his family,” wrote Kovacik in a statement to the media. “He remains in stable condition.”
Bush, 88, has been in the hospital since Nov. 23.
