CYPRESS, Texas –- Deputies were called to the Noah’s Ark animal shelter in Cypress late Wednesday after a horse was struck by a passing pickup truck.

Harris County deputies said the incident happened around 8 p.m. on Kz Road near Cypress Rosehill Road.

Investigators believe someone at the shelter left a gate open, and four horses went into the roadway. A pickup struck one of the horses, which suffered minor injuries.

Deputies arrived and spoke with the shelter owner. Authorities then took the injured animal away in a trailer.

The pickup driver was not injured, but his truck was damaged.

This is the same facility deputies were called to in January after a fire was reported in the home attached to the shelter.
