HOUSTON--A community is in mourning after a Hempstead I.S.D teacher was killed in a car accident over the weekend.
Randall Lacey, a teacher at Hempstead High School for the past eight years, was killed Saturday as he was driving down Highway 105 in the rain.
Authorities say that the driver of a pickup truck lost control and hit Lacey’s car head on. Lacey had to be extracted from him car and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Lacey taught career and technical education, according to Dr. Sharon Young, deputy superintendent for the school district. He is survived by his wife, the Hempstead Elementary School principal and four children.
A fund, the Randall Lacey CTE Memorial Scholarship, has been set up in his honor and donations are being received through Hempstead I.S.D.
His funeral is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Hempstead High School Auditorium.
