HOUSTON – A Sunday morning’s silence in southwest Houston was shattered by the sound of gunfire.

According to the Houston Police Department, two teenagers were shot right out front of an apartment complex on Camino del Rey and Chimney Rock.

“He heard eight shots, sounded like ‘pa, pa, pa, pa,’” said Rosie Garcia.

Neighbors said it caught them completely by surprise because it happened in broad daylight at 11 a.m.

Neighbors were just feet from where shots were fired. One neighbor who didn’t want to go on camera said he opened his blinds and saw the blood.

“There was a body guy on the floor asking for help,” he said.

Police said two men shot the two teenagers, ages 15 and 17, before running off on foot. One of the victim’s shoes was left behind at the scene, next to a shell casing on the ground.

“I saw him moving, and I was just hoping for ambulance to get here to help him,” he said.

Those teens were rushed to surgery at a local hospital, but are expected to survive. Police have little suspect descriptions to work with and that has neighbors most troubled.

“Now what if this happens again,” said Garcia. “I can’t run. It’s really frightening. I’m shook up. I really am.”
