HOUSTON—An HPD officer responding to an assault-in-progress call was injured when she crashed into an apartment complex fence.

It happened around midnight at Hollister and Hammerly.

Police said the officer was traveling north on Hollister when she lost control at a curve in the road, skidded across the median and southbound lanes and crashed into a metal fence.

The cruiser came to a rest against the brick wall of an apartment unit.

The officer was taken to the hospital after complaining of back pain.

HPD said she’s been with the force for about 14 years.

The cause of the crash was not yet known.
