HOUSTON -– An officer was involved in a minor car accident in the Montrose area around the same time of a police chase Wednesday morning, the Houston Police Department said.

The crash happened at 11:30 a.m. on Dunlavy at W. Gray, about five miles from the end of a chase on Gray Street. HPD said, despite the timing, the officer was not responding to the chase at the time of the crash.

HPD described the incident as a “fender bender.” The patrol car appeared to have collided with a black Honda sedan at an intersection.

Two ambulances as well as several police cars were called to the scene as a precaution. No serious injuries were reported.

It was not immediately disclosed who was at fault in the crash.
