HOUSTON – A Houston police officer was chasing a stolen pickup through northeast Houston Saturday morning when the brakes on his patrol car failed.

The officer crashed into a brick building. He suffered bumps and bruises, but no serious injuries.

“He was driving north on Lathrop and he attempted to slow down and he put on the brakes but he could feel that the brakes were not working and he tried to make a wide turn and he ended up losing control,” police officials said.

As for the driver of the truck, he crashed into a parked pickup, got out and ran away. He remains at large.
