HOUSTON -- Police took a Houston woman in for questioning after they found her boyfriend dead in their northwest side home late Wednesday, officers said.

The shooting was reported around 10 p.m. on Ojeman Road near Friendship Road.

Officers with the Houston Police Department arrived to find a man, 46, with a gunshot wound to the chest dead inside the home. The man’s girlfriend was still there and said the shooting was an accident, police said.

Police said the woman was moving boxes and other items when a shotgun went off, wounding the man.

The woman also told police she was moving out due to an argument she had with her boyfriend earlier in the day. She was taken downtown for further questioning.

No charges have been filed at this time as the investigation is continuing.

Police did not release the identities of the victim or the woman.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.
