HOUSTON –- An investigation is underway in north Houston where police say a teen was wounded and a man was killed in a shooting late Wednesday.
It all started around 10:30 p.m. outside a food store on Greens Parkway near Fall Lake Road, according to homicide investigators with the Houston Police Department.
Police said a 15-year-old male went into the store to break a $20 bill, but the clerk refused to do it. The teen told police he then went outside and asked two men in a car if they had change, but the men snatched the money from him.
Police said the teen left and later returned with a relative and two friends. They couldn’t find the men who took the $20, but as they were driving away two men across the street opened fire on them.
Two of the four people in the vehicle were shot, including the 15-year-old, police said. The driver kept going to Ella at Rankin where paramedics responded.
“One was deceased here at the scene,” said HPD Homicide Investigator Brian Evans. “The other -- 15-year-old -- was sent to Ben Taub Hospital with a gunshot wound to the upper-right back. He was released about four or five hours later.”
The shooting victim who died was 25 years old, police said.
“We’re trying to learn the whereabouts of another individual that was reported to us to have either been in the vehicle or fled from the vehicle from this location.”
Police said the shooters got away, but a detailed description of the suspects was not available.
