HOUSTON—Houston police have arrested and charged a man wanted in connection with the sexual assault of a woman on May 14.
Police said the 67-year-old victim was at her home in the 2700 block of Wallingford when she heard a knock on the door shortly after midnight.
“I cracked open the door and he pushed open the door and came in,” the victim said. “He knocked me on the ground, tore my gown in the front.”
She tried to fight the man off as he hit her around her head.
She said she tried to talk him out of raping her.
“[I said] there was no need to hurt me, or anybody else, and that I was old enough to be his grandmother,” she said.
She said the man told her, “I don’t know why I’m doing this.”
“He said he had been watching me and the people around here, as far as older women and people,” she said.
The victim thought she was going to have a heart attack and even warned the man about her condition.
“I have heart conditions, and I had a couple of strokes and I have COPD,” she said. “I had to take nitroglycerin. He did give me my nitroglycerin.”
Her attacker left after 45 Minutes, leaving behind terrifying memories for the victim.
Police used DNA to identify the suspect as John Hayward Milstead.
