HOUSTON – A teenager was airlifted to the hospital after she crashed an SUV into a pole and landed upside down in a water-filled ditch on Saturday.

It happened at Pineland at Vindale in northeast Harris County.
Police said around 1:30 a.m., the Sheldon Fire Department responded to a call about a major automobile accident. They arrived to find a teenage girl trapped inside a Ford Explorer, which had landed upside down in a large ditch.  She was still wearing her seatbelt.
Police said the teen was speeding down Pineland and was unable to navigate the SUV around a curve. The vehicle skid in the grass and slammed into an electric pole, splitting it in half. The SUV then rolled over into a water-filled ditch.
The teen was airlifted to Memorial Hermann in critical condition.

The girl in the car is Misty Grimes who passed away shortly after the crash at herman hospital, she was 24 years old, had a two year old daughter who was not in the car, Misty was a great mother, sister, daughter and friend and we will miss her very much, she was not speeding down the road, she went into a diabetic coma and lost concious wich resulted in the crash. WE WILL MISS YOU MISTY R.I.P. from all your family and friends

IF what you say is true (but I seriously doubt it) and she crashed due to a medical condition, she should NOT have been driving in the first place! She would be endangering everyone else on the road. Fortunately she only killed herself and not some other innocent driver.

Misty was my sister, she just turned 25 on Oct. 16. She has a 4yr old little girl. We miss her so much..she had juvenile diabetes her blood sugar got to high and went in to a coma at the wheel..her foot got wedged down on accelerator..she did not know at this point she was speeding out of control...she has a tiny body frame so it was thought she was younger..she did not know that this was happening..when your sugar gets to high its automatic..anyone with diabetes knows this..its not a choice of something you can make to drive or not..she would never drive to harm others or knowing she would hurt someone or herself...my family is hurting so bad over this so please if you have nothing but rude stuff to say keep it to yourself..my mother does not deserve to hear about people commenting on here in a way that dishonours her daughter..or questions the facts..Please respect that people are reading your comments and will be telling her family..thanks Chrissy Barnes(Grimes)

You proved my point with your post. You said "she did not know that this was happening", so it could happen any time without warning. To say "its not a choice of something you can make to drive or not", WRONG! If you have a condition that can happen at any time and cause you to lose control of your vehicle then you should not drive. Driving is NOT a right, it is a privilege. There are far too many people that should not be driving that think they have some right to endanger other people. If your "mother does not deserve to hear about people commenting on here" then don't tell her! This is a PUBLIC forum, if you don't like it, don't read it.

Everyone knows accidents happen so for you to say Misty was wrong to be driving is like saying no one should drive. There are far too many people that are so quick to judge others. You my friend could not stop at just one comment but had to throw the second stone at her mother. Yes you are missing a link or two and you prove my point

cheez - Accidents happen, true. "to say Misty was wrong to be driving is like saying no one should drive", false. No one should drive that has a condition that could cause them to suddenly lose control of their vehicle without warning. That is not accident. That kills innocent people. Would you still be defending her so much, if she had her 'diabetic coma' and ran over a bunch of kids at a school bus stop? I am NOT throwing stones at the mother as you said, I am simply making the point that some people should NOT be driving a deadly weapon, they KNOW they can lose control over at any time because of a medical condition, on the road with the rest of us. Some people refuse to see that and take it as a personal attack on one person, instead of a general rule. As I said before, "driving is NOT a right, it is a privilege".

Boy, missing link is right! I don’t think I’ve ever had to be subjected to such pedantic drivel. Over 20 million people in the United States over 20 years old have been diagnosed with diabetes. That’s approximately 20 million people, who according to you, should be unable to drive themselves to work. Now, what about people with heart disease; the number one cause of death in the United States? I guess we’ll have to take away their drivers licenses as well since they are at a higher risk of having a stroke, heart attack, or other heart-disease related attack behind the wheel than Misty was of going into a diabetic coma. That would take over 60 million people off the road. Furthermore, I guess all old people should be deprived of their licenses as well since their bad eyesight and impaired motor skills increase their risk of an accident.

Of course, we’ll also have to revoke the drivers’ licenses of everyone under the age of 25, because they are one of the biggest dangers on the road! I guess we should also take the licenses of everyone who has had several accidents already, since already having had those accidents proves that they are at a greater risk of continuing to have accidents that someone who has never had an accident. Lastly, I guess we need to get IQ tests for everyone before they drive since brainless Neanderthals like you are obviously too obtuse to be trusted behind the wheel of a deadly weapon! Keep your mindless drivel to yourself until you have proof that her diabetes made her a higher risk than anyone else, you vulture! You won’t be getting your 15 minutes off of the death of a sweet, beautiful, thoughtful and giving young lady like Misty!

My dear sister and little Misty, My dear niece and my wonderful sister as well as the rest of my family - I apologize that you are forced to listen to such idiocy. I can only say that this is obviously the opinion of a complete and utter moron so don't let this pathetic excuse for a person, who hides under a pseudonym, add to the heartache and pain we all are already experiencing! This person has proven by the drivel he/she is spouting on here that his/her opinion is based on nothing more than their own limited mental capacity and need to be recognized. R.I.P. Misty - We all love and miss you so very much! You were a terrific, mom, daugher, sister, granddaughter niece, and cousin. You will always live on in our hearts and minds and we will be better people for it! I LOVE YOU, BABY GIRL!

I was her daughters teacher and it has been a long time since I saw a mother who was trying so hard to give her child the best. She was a wonderful mother and it broke my heart to have to take a call like that this morning. Her daugher is a smart and loving little girl who will miss her mother greatly. If there is anything that I can do please call the school and let us know. Your family is in my heart and we will miss her. Love, Mrs.Koen

Misty and Family, I was not so close too you but every time u came to cheers you would come talk to me. You were always so happy and so sweet. When I found out what had happened I prayed and prayed and prayed. I told God you are too young and too good of a person to go so soon. But then I realized God has his reasons, to us left here on earth we will never understand! Misty I know for a fact that you are looking down on your beloved family, beautiful daughter and friends and smiling because God has brought you to the Kingdom of Forever and one day all of us will join you again. To Mistys family my heart dearly goes out to you. I will pray for you that God can give you strength to get through this hard time. Our family at Cheers will be here for you and keep all of you in our hearts. May you rest in peace Misty. Sincerely, Family at Cheers and Amanda

R.I.P Misty! You will be missed. And as far as MISSING_LINK is concerned....I'd like to take you out back and beat the living $h^t out of you. You dont know what happened. You dont know Misty or the situation. So shut your mouth. And yes its hard enough for her family as it is with the loss of a loved one...then you come in and run your mouth about all that b.s! Just like apanzer said what are you going to do take the rest of the people off the road that have an illness? That would take millions off the road so throw that out of the window. If you would like to keep running your mouth I would really like to meet you. If your done leave her family alone and dont post another word here!!!! Sorry just had to vent. But to all Mistys family im sooo sorry and just want you to know that you are in all of the KOLACNY's familys prayers!!!!!! MIKE
