HOUSTON – A teenager was airlifted to the hospital after she crashed an SUV into a pole and landed upside down in a water-filled ditch on Saturday.

It happened at Pineland at Vindale in northeast Harris County.
Police said around 1:30 a.m., the Sheldon Fire Department responded to a call about a major automobile accident. They arrived to find a teenage girl trapped inside a Ford Explorer, which had landed upside down in a large ditch.  She was still wearing her seatbelt.
Police said the teen was speeding down Pineland and was unable to navigate the SUV around a curve. The vehicle skid in the grass and slammed into an electric pole, splitting it in half. The SUV then rolled over into a water-filled ditch.
The teen was airlifted to Memorial Hermann in critical condition.
