HOUSTON – Houston police said a man found sleeping in his car at a southwest Houston intersection woke up and then led officers on a chase early Wednesday.

The chase started around 1:30 a.m. on Richmond at Dunvale.

An officer said he found the suspect behind the wheel of his BMW sleeping in the middle of the road. Police woke up the man, who then took off.

The man allegedly led officers westbound on Richmond to Wilcrest, where he then went southbound.

The man stopped after about a five-mile chase, and police then took him into custody.

HPD said the man faces charges of driving while intoxicated and felony evading.
