HOUSTON -– Police said a man suspected of breaking into a northeast Houston Walgreens ran across the East Freeway two times in an attempt to evade police.
According to the Houston Police Department, the suspect was approached by officers early Friday morning as he attempted to break into the pharmacy on Lockwood.
He took off running, at one point even taking to the roof of a nearby business.
Police said they eventually managed to arrest the man, but only after he ran through yards and across the nearby interstate twice.
HPD said several gunshots were heard, but the shots didn’t appear to be related to the foot pursuit. They also said a second suspect may have gotten away.
Police said Friday morning's arrest was the result of increased patrols. They’ve been keeping a close eye on eastside pharmacies due to recent break-ins.
