HOUSTON — Police say an off-duty security guard shot his 16-year-old brother Saturday night in a north Houston apartment complex.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident happened at 8:30 p.m. in the 400 block of Greens Road. The teen was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital with a gunshot wound to his face.

Police said the teen has a history of domestic violence against his mother, and the security guard confronted his brother with his duty weapon.

Investigators are not sure if charges will be filed. The case will be referred to the state attorney’s office.

The teen is expected to survive.
