HOUSTON – Two small children were abandoned at Bush Intercontinental Airport and now their mother is facing charges, according to police.
Investigators say Taiwo Jenkins, 37, had a layover in Houston on a flight from Chicago to Nigeria.
Police say the Chicago woman had to go through customs and didn’t want to take her 10-month-old son and 2-year-old daughter with her.
Jenkins allegedly asked a complete stranger to watch the children and walked away even though the woman said "no."
The woman said she stayed with the youngsters for an hour before it was time to board her flight.
She alerted airport officials and they called police.
Police were waiting for Jenkins when she showed up an hour and 15 minutes after leaving the children.
She was arrested and charged with felony abandonment of a child.
