HOUSTON – Police say a driver ran a stop sign and caused a big accident just south of downtown Houston.

According to the Houston Police Department, the accident happened at 11 p.m. at the intersection of Holman and Burkett. A tan car heading north on Burkett ran the stop sign and crashed into a black Chevy car heading west on Holman.

The cars were pretty banged up after the accident, but the people inside are expected to be OK, police said.

Officers said a passenger from one car ran off after the accident. They are trying to figure out why.
