HOUSTON – Three children were mourning the deaths of their parents Wednesday after their dad shot and killed their mother before turning the gun on himself Tuesday evening, according to police.
Police said the murder-suicide happened in an apartment parking lot located in the 900 block of Adele in north Houston.
The parents had been married for 20 years and had recently separated. The estranged husband was not happy with the separation and made constant threats of killing his wife and himself, according to family members.
The 17-year-old daughter said her mom was dropping her and her 5-month-old baby off at her dad's apartment Tuesday around 6:30 p.m. All three were still in the car when her dad walked up to the car and opened fire, striking her mom several times. He then shot himself in the head.
The mother died at the scene. The father was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he later died. The teenage daughter and grandchild were not physically hurt.
The couple had two more children, ages 15 and 11.
